From Mrs. Adams~
TUESDAY (Dec. 11th) is our Holiday Concert!!! We will sing at the Midtown Arts Center (in Theatre One) in Fort Collins. The address is: 3750 South Mason Street, Fort Collins. The 2nd graders perform at 5:30 p.m. Please have your child arrive at the theater no later than 5:10. I’d really like to have a chance to take the kids onto the stage for a quick warm-up/sound check. If possible, we’d like to ask parents to wait to enter the theatre until we are done warming up. We don’t want you to hear the good stuff until we perform! Students are asked to dress up for this event, but there are no exact guidelines for what they should wear. I basically asked them not to wear jeans, sweats or shorts. The show will last about 30 minutes, ending by 6:00 p.m. At that time, I’ll need to quickly clear the theatre as I’m doing double-duty and directing the chorus holiday concert in the same theatre at 6:30. I’d like to have the theatre cleared so I can bring the chorus kids in around 6:10 for their warm-up. I hope it doesn’t sound too rude of me to ask that favor. If you have a child in chorus as well, you may save your seats with your coats so you can have the same spot. I’m so excited about this event. I gave this group of 2nd graders more music to learn than I have in previous years. They have amazed me. We know you’re going to love listening to our “Jingle Bell Jukebox”! Please email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. I’ll be in class all weekend, but do try to check email periodically, especially when an event is coming up. Thanks for your support. I’ll see you all on Tuesday night! A big warm welcome to Mrs. Langford who will be taking over while I'm on maternity leave. Mrs. Langford comes to us with years of teaching experience. She is a familiar face at Bethke, as she was a long-term sub last year in 3rd grade.
Mrs. Langford subbed for me yesterday. She will be in my room and in second grade several more times in December and January to help build that relationship with your child. The second grade team has met with Mrs. Langford and we are looking at making it a smooth transition. I don't have an official last day yet, but I will keep you posted. Please let me know if you have an questions, concerns surrounding my maternity leave.
To introduce simple machines we have the students make butter. The shake it in a jar and they using an electric mixer. The goal is prove simple machines make life easier. In our case though the butter actually formed faster in the jar. They were some very serious shakers. Take a look at our pictures!
