Picture Re-takes will be next Thursday (11/4). Students may get re-takes, but the photographers need the old packet of photos back. While all students may take new pictures, they just can't get the new ones until they have returned the old photos.

Friday the 29th will start out with an outside parade of costumes at 8:45am (weather permitting), followed by classroom parties inside. Details about the inside party will be posted shortly. Students are encouraged to show up to school in their costumes. Fun!

Mr. Tutt [email protected] Core Last week we concluded our units on the Constitution and the War of 1812. We enjoyed working with all the second grade classes collaboratively to recreate all the United States flags, past to present. This week we started our unit on Westward Expansion. We have had fun learning about the Louisiana Purchase, Sacajawea, and Lewis and Clark. **Welcome Mr. Damien Tutt, who will be filling in for Mrs. Fitzpatrick until after the holidays. 9/27 Welcome Lily Joy Fitzpatrick 7lbs. 12 oz. The kids have had a great time sharing favorite books. We have also been enjoying the new reading series, Treasures, that the district adopted this year. We have been reviewing long and short vowel sounds. Our skill focus over the past two weeks has been main idea, details, predicting, and summarizing. Math: We are working in the Everyday Math Unit 2. Our focus has been on adding doubles, +1, and +0 addition facts, as well as fact families. We have also introduced ounces and pounds. The kids have enjoyed deciding whether an object should be weighed using ounces or pounds. We also reviewed Frames and Arrows and What’s My Rule, and addition facts through 20. Writing: Over the past two weeks, we have focused on writing paragraphs with an emphasis on organization and structure. We continue to work on adding good details, using interesting words, capitals, periods, and indenting the first sentence of a paragraph. Our grammar focus has been on subjects, predicates, and sentence combining. |
